I can't tell from the pic what direction the doors are facing (north, south etc). I think that a farmer's porch may block all the light and make the doors dark, negating the benefits. You could put a nice sky light in the porch roof, use the hi-tech plastic stuff that will let light through, or forgo the porch in favor of a pergola.
The doors look fabulous, and done just in time for a little rain & snow. Congrats!
